Gerald Branditz Scholarship
All members of Harrison Jr. Baseball are proud to announce the establishment of the Gerald Branditz Scholarship to be awarded annually to two Harrison Jr. Baseball alumni. The scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors planning to attend college or trade school immediately upon graduation.
The scholarship was established to honor the many years of hard work and dedication given to the organization by our past president and long time member, Jerry Branditz. The organization has been very fortunate to have Jerry’s involvement and leadership and we hope the establishment of this scholarship in his name expresses just a small portion of thanks due him.
Awarding of the scholarships will take place by May 1st with applications available in January. Applications must be submitted by April 1st. This year, each recipient will receive $1000.00. The amount can vary from year to year based upon the financial statement of the previous year. Applicants must have participated in Harrison Jr. Baseball for a minimum of five years.
The scholarship winners will be determined by a selection committee that will include one member of the HJB Executive Board in addition to two prominent members of the local community. Criteria for awarding the scholarship will include the applicant’s community service, their involvement and awards in their high school’s extracurricular activities, their grades and curriculum, and the answering of an essay question.
We are very excited with this addition to our program. We feel it allows us to recognize years of dedicated service by Jerry and at the same time offer additional opportunity to the children we have served. We are looking forward to honoring our inaugural scholarship winners at this year’s All-Star Day.
